My name is Rosa Myk and I am in my second year of the bachelor. This is also my second year where I have joined a committee. This year I have taken the position as Secretary of the Events Committee and last year I did the promotion for the Study Trip Committee.  

This year is in quite a few ways different from last year, for example, all of our meetings take place via Zoom and last year they were all on campus. Doing our meetings via Zoom has some benefits, such as the whole committee being on time, it’s easier to schedule and people don’t have to travel which saves a lot of time. However, on the other hand, it is harder to really get to know your committee. Last year I took the same way of transportation as some other committee members or we arrived at the same time before a meeting, which gave us some extra time to get to know each other. I find it a little bit harder to get acquainted via a computer screen, this means we have to find other ways. This year for example we’ve spent many Zoom meetings just playing games or telling each other about our winter break! 

Last year, I also saw my committee more at other events, now you don’t always get placed in the same breakout room as your committee and you also don’t get that much one on one time to get to know each other at these events. Last year we would meet up before an event and we’d have dinner together.  

My favorite memory of my committee years was definitely the Study Trip of last year. We worked all year on making it happen and making sure it would be fun. I can 100% say everyone enjoyed themselves. The group was fun, traveling from city to city was fun and I’ve made some great memories! Being able to work on something and to be able to see it being so successful makes me really proud. Luckily, I can say that all of our events this year have also been very successful, we’re really trying to come up with unique ideas for everyone at SHARE and seeing everyone enjoying themselves in these online times makes us happy.  

I hope that we can enjoy physical events soon again, because Rotterdam is a beautiful city and the events introduced me to lots of places, I had never been before. I can’t wait to explore more with SHARE!
