Imad and Tim

We are Imad and Tim and we are in our second year of the Bachelor program Health Sciences, policy and management. Last summer, we were both guides for a group of first-year students during the Eurekaweek. We found this to be a very enjoyable experience and we will be guiding again this year!

Our goal as guides was to ensure that the first-year students had a great first week and to show them as much as possible about our study and student life. We introduced them to the campus, Rotterdam, SHARE, and, of course, their fellow students in the program. Since neither of us lives in Rotterdam, we chose to stay in a hotel to make the Eurekaweek as enjoyable as possible. During the application process, we also made it clear that our aim was to create an experience where everyone could start their studies with a positive feeling. It was also great for us that we had a very active group of first-year students.

When we were in our first year of the program, both of us participated in the Eurekaweek, so we already knew which activities were a must-attend. Anyone who has ever experienced the Eurekaweek will tell you that the cantus is an event you shouldn’t miss. And that’s absolutely true because singing along with thousands of people is an unforgettable experience. Besides this predictable answer, we also really enjoyed the overall atmosphere during the Eurekaweek and at all the different events. This allowed us to get our group excited about the activities, and throughout the week, almost the entire group participated in everything. This way, we noticed that we achieved what we set out to do, which was to ensure that people could start their studies with familiar faces. By spending a whole week together, new friendships quickly formed within the group, just like it happened to us in the past. We still regularly meet up with some of the people we guided. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and we hope to help many more first-year students kickstart their studies in the future.
