Studytrip 2020

From March 8th to 15th Faculty Association SHARE took a group of 19 members on a study trip to Bulgaria and Romania.

During this trip, we visited 3 different cities: Bucharest, Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia. Our first stop was Bucharest, where we first went on a city tour to get familiar with this town.

On our second day we visited the very large castle and we stopped by one of the many shopping malls of Bucharest. We had a traditional Romanian dinner and we went on a pub crawl.

We also visited the University of Bucharest and stopped by the museum of senses, which was a lot of fun. After a few days in Bucharest, we drove to Veliko Tarnovo (the old Capital of the second Bulgarian Empire). When we arrived, we dropped our luggage at our hotel and started our hike to a little old church, where we ate some lunch en enjoyed the view. After lunch, we continued hiking to a small neighboring village called Arbanasi. The next day we took a 4-hour train ride to Sofia and we started to explore this lovely city.

During our stay here, we also met with an NGO called Initiative for Health, which helped reduce the harms of drug use and dedicated their time to educating people on drug use in Bulgaria. On Friday our group could chose to either go on another hike or on a city tour by bicycle. The hike was very hard, since it was very steep, and lead us to the famous frozen waterfalls that had an amazing view. The bicycle tour passed many of Sofia’s memorable buildings, but also a lot of terraces. Unfortunately, our plans for the evening were cancelled due to the corona virus, but we didn’t let this ruin our night. We had our own party at the hostel which was just as much fun.

On Saturday, two amazing members of the group took us on another tour around Sofia. We also planned a surprise party, since it was the birthday of the President of SHARE. Sunday, we flew back home to Eindhoven Airport. Looking back on our trip, we can all definitely say it was a great success and we had a great week filled with fun and exciting things we will never forget!
