Student advisors ESHPM

You have probably seen us at the introduction day of your program or contacted us over the course of your studies. Our names are Constantijn and Karolien, and we’ve been working as Student Advisors at ESHPM for over a year now. Our role is to support and guide students throughout their academic career at ESHPM.

Our primary focus is to see students succeed and excel in whatever ESHPM BA or MA program they’ve chosen. It isn’t uncommon for students to (temporarily) struggle with insecurities and tension, personal issues, or disappointing results during their studies. In that case, a meeting with the Student Advisor can be the first step towards a solution. The Student Advisor can help you place things in perspective to regain control of the bigger picture.

We also help to arrange facilities for students with functional impairments, as well as advise you on how to deal with circumstances that interfere with your academic progress or may refer you to other professionals at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Furthermore, we provide coaching for academic skills and planning.

Everything that affects our students affects us also. As Student Advisors, we are a hub with an advisory role, and we can signal structural issues in ESHPM’s degree programs. As a result, we are always in close contact with program coordinators, directors, and lecturers. At a central level, we work closely with other professional student services, such as the student counselors and university psychologists. We also have a weekly advisory meeting with the examination board to discuss student requests.

Students can contact us via e-mail or book an appointment themselves via the online planner. Usually, we see students in person. However, due to the current circumstances, all our appointments are by telephone instead. We realize that these times are challenging for many of you. Despite this, we see a remarkable resilience in ESHPM students. For those of you who feel they need some extra support, we hope you find your way to us and look forward to hearing from you.
